up to a bunch of mess

all sorts of stuff has gone on over the past month
but, today, we painted outside, in the morning, and then ran through the sprinkler to clean ourselves off.
and perhaps cool off a bit as well.

Urban Assault 2010 - the return of the Frozen Pickles

above: a collection of Zoe's fake smiles
As they did last year, Michael and Kyle competed in New Belgium's Urban Assault. Marcus, Tracie, Marcus's parents, and some of Kyle's other friends from work were there as well. I don't think it was as hot this year, thankfully, as Kyle and Michael rode a few extra miles in order to avoid lines. And, beer at the end certainly doesn't hurt!

Tracie, Marcus, and Marcus's parents (who flew out right after the race!
I hope for their seat-mates' sake they were able to fit in a shower...)
Brent and Jack
ignore the crazy guy
(maybe he's entertaining Zoe?)

And he's on to more adventure!

Look at those ears!
Can you tell we're related?
Congratulations to my brother Matt after eight years of hard work! As he said:
SSgt Hull is officially on terminal leave and MR Matthew Hull is going to take about a week to get home with his beautiful fiance!!!!
Love to you both!
Aren't they the cutest?

Orwell diaries

On my Google reader I've been enjoying my subscription to The Orwell Diaries. They've been publishing his diaries exactly 70 years to-the-day after they were written, starting from August 9th 1938/2008. I think I've only been reading them for about a year. Some of them used to be quite uneventful, such as how many eggs he collected that morning. But currently we're getting into WWII, the invasion of France, and Britain's role in everything, all told from Orwell's perspective. I've found it quite interesting, and wanted to pass on the link so others could enjoy as well.

These boots were made for walking

and that's just what they'll do.

Except, of course,
when someone prefers to roll around on the floor in them.
